Situated off the Sekotong Peninsula on the south west coast of Lombok, close to the famous surf and diving spot at Bangko Bangko, there are a group of 12 small islands, or gili’s as they are known locally. The island is split into two land certificates; 12,345m2 Hak Guna Bangunan (freehold) and 5,100m2 Hak Pakai (leasehold totaling 100 years). The total certified land is 17,965m2, the remaining land on the island, totaling approximately 80 are, is accounted for by the coastal border law and the lighthouse area which is not certified. The company who owns the certificates have obtained the licenses to build a resort on the island. To date this includes the desa (village) permit, the lurah (village head) permit, the camat (subdistrict head) permit, the location and environmental permits from the local regency government, location permits from the local regency government and building permits.
