Why We Recommend Baan Banyan

We have personally visited over 200 villas across Thailand, and Baan Banyan remains one of our top recommendations for families and groups visiting Phuket. Here is our honest take after multiple site visits.

What Sets It Apart

Unlike the crowded beachfront properties in Patong, Baan Banyan sits elevated above Kamala Bay - far enough for complete privacy, close enough that you can be on the sand within 10 minutes. The hillside position means you wake up to panoramic Andaman Sea views that never get old.

The layout works exceptionally well for multi-generational families. Three separate pavilions connected by covered walkways mean grandparents can have peace and quiet while kids have space to play. We have had guests tell us this setup saved their family holiday.

Our Favourite Features

The infinity pool at sunset - Position yourself at the edge around 6pm. The way the water seems to merge with the bay below is genuinely spectacular.
The in-villa chef - Request the green curry. The chef sources ingredients from Kamala morning market and the quality shows.
The yoga sala - Perfect for morning stretches overlooking the jungle. Ask staff to arrange a private instructor if interested.

Good To Know

The hillside location means some stairs between pavilions - something to consider if you have guests with mobility concerns. However, the main living areas and master suite are all on one level.

Kamala itself is quieter than Patong or Kata - ideal if you want relaxation over nightlife. The beach is family-friendly with calm waters most of the year. For restaurants, we suggest Rockfish for sunset cocktails (15 min drive) or the beachfront seafood spots in Kamala village.

Best For

Extended families, celebration trips (birthdays, anniversaries), groups of friends wanting luxury without the hotel formality. The six bedrooms accommodate up to 12 guests comfortably, making the per-person cost surprisingly reasonable for this level of luxury.
