Villa Mannao is hidden among the rice fields of Kerobokan, about ten minutes from central Seminyak, and it is the kind of estate that makes you wonder how it stays under the radar. This is a proper six-bedroom compound with two swimming pools, two Joglo-style living pavilions, and grounds that stretch directly into working rice paddies. For large families or groups of friends, it is one of the most atmospheric options we have come across in southern Bali.
What struck us immediately was the quality of the Joglo pavilions. These are fully crafted timber structures with carved details, oriental carpets, antique furnishings, and chandeliers suspended from traditional ceilings. There is nothing generic about these spaces — they feel collected and curated over time rather than furnished from a catalogue. The garden is equally impressive: flowering plants, mature trees, hand-carved stone statues, and a gazebo overlooking the rice fields where you can set up for a barbecue evening.
Why We Recommend Villa Mannao
At $883 per night for six bedrooms (plus a kids’ bunk room), this works out to well under $150 per room for what is genuinely an estate-level property. The two pools mean your group does not need to queue for pool time, and the multiple living pavilions give people space to spread out. Every bedroom has its own veranda, en-suite bathroom with both indoor and outdoor rain showers, and garden views through full-length glass doors. The master suite is in a standalone bungalow with an adjoining twin room — ideal for parents with young children. There is also a private spa for Balinese massage treatments on site.
Our Favourite Features
- Two Joglo living pavilions with genuine antique timber, carved details, and real character — among the best we have seen in any rental villa
- Two swimming pools in an expansive garden that blends into the surrounding rice fields
- Outdoor rain showers in every bathroom — showering under the Bali starlit sky is an experience in itself
- Dedicated kids’ bunk room that doubles as a TV room with a large flat-screen and comfortable sofas
- The garden gazebo overlooking rice paddies is the perfect spot for sundowners or a barbecue evening
Good To Know
- Kerobokan is quieter and more rural than Seminyak — the rice field setting is beautiful but you will need transport for restaurants and beaches (ten minutes to Seminyak by car or scooter)
- The traditional Joglo style means open-air living areas without air conditioning — they are naturally ventilated and comfortable, but bedrooms are fully air-conditioned
- This is a large estate, so it works best for groups of 8 or more. For smaller groups, consider the separate 8-bedroom booking option or the Little Mannao 3-bedroom villa
- The property is also available as an 8-bedroom booking if your group is larger
For a Bali estate that combines genuine Javanese architecture, rice field views, two pools, and space for large groups, Villa Mannao is one of the best value propositions we have found in the Kerobokan-Seminyak area.
