Villa Bumi
Why We Recommend Villa Bumi
Villa Bumi is built in earth tones rather than the usual Canggu white — terracotta, sand, clay and unbleached linen, with rough plaster walls that hold the light warm all afternoon. The effect is closer to Tulum than to Bali, and it makes a small villa feel enveloping rather than merely compact.
The best thing in it is the poolside alcove: a deep recess under a thatched alang-alang overhang, its floor built up as a continuous plaster daybed strewn with cushions, facing straight down the length of the plunge pool. It is shaded through the hottest part of the day and is where most guests end up spending it.
Inside, a built-in plaster sofa curves around a low timber table, with arched niches holding ceramics and a black-and-white patterned panel above. The bedroom carries a fluted timber headboard and a kilim throw, and the bathroom is finished with a hammered brass basin and a deep tub. Canggu’s beach is around 700 metres away.
