Things to Do in Seminyak — The Complete Guide

By adminMarch 19, 20264 min read

Seminyak at a Glance

Seminyak is Bali’s most polished neighbourhood — a stretch of golden sand, world-class restaurants, and boutique shopping that runs from the Petitenget Temple north to Batu Belig Beach. It’s where Bali does sophistication without losing its soul, and it’s the reason so many travellers come here once and keep coming back.

Whether you’re here for a week in a private villa or just passing through on a longer Bali trip, here’s our guide to the best things to do in Seminyak.

Hit the Beach at Sunset

Seminyak’s beach is one of Bali’s finest — wide, sandy, and west-facing, which means the sunsets are extraordinary. The stretch between Double Six and Batu Belig is the prime zone. Grab a beanbag at one of the beach bars, order a cold Bintang, and watch the sky turn gold.

For the full rundown on the best spots and timing, see our Seminyak Beach & Sunset Guide.

Eat Your Way Down Eat Street

Jalan Kayu Aya — known locally as Eat Street — is one of the best restaurant strips in Southeast Asia. Within a few hundred metres you’ll find everything from fine-dining Indonesian at Sardine and Métis to casual tacos at Motel Mexicola, wood-fired pizza at La Lucciola, and Japanese at Sushimi.

The quality here rivals anywhere in the region, and prices are a fraction of what you’d pay in Sydney or Singapore. Our Eat Street restaurant guide covers the highlights.

Explore the Boutiques

Seminyak is Bali’s fashion and design capital. Jalan Raya Seminyak and the lanes off Jalan Kayu Aya are packed with independent boutiques selling resort wear, handmade jewellery, homewares, and art. Highlights include Biasa for minimalist linen, Magali Pascal for French-Balinese fashion, and Kendra Gallery for contemporary Indonesian art.

It’s the kind of shopping where you go in for a sarong and come out with a suitcase full of things you didn’t know you needed.

Visit Petitenget Temple

Pura Petitenget is one of Bali’s six key sea temples, and it sits right on the beach between Seminyak and Canggu. Built in the 16th century by the Javanese priest Dang Hyang Nirartha, it’s still an active place of worship — you’ll often see ceremonies with gamelan music, incense, and elaborately dressed offerings.

It’s a beautiful reminder that Seminyak isn’t just beach bars and boutiques. Read more in our Petitenget Temple & Cultural Walk guide.

Spend a Day at a Beach Club

Seminyak invented the Bali beach club. Potato Head is the original — a striking colosseum of vintage shutters overlooking an infinity pool, with DJs, cocktails, and a menu that goes well beyond bar snacks. Ku De Ta next door is equally iconic, with a more refined, grown-up atmosphere.

Further along the beach, Mrs Sippy draws a younger crowd with its 9-metre diving platform and pool parties. For something quieter, The Lawn on the Canggu border offers bean bags on the grass and a chilled sunset scene.

Book a Spa Treatment

Bali is famous for its spa culture, and Seminyak has some of the island’s best. Bodyworks on Jalan Kayu Jati has been a Seminyak institution for over 20 years. Spring Spa offers contemporary treatments in a beautiful garden setting. Or for a more traditional experience, ask the staff at your villa to arrange an in-villa Balinese massage — most of our Seminyak villas can organise this.

Take a Day Trip

Seminyak makes an excellent base for exploring wider Bali. Popular day trips include:

  • Tanah Lot Temple — Bali’s most photographed sea temple, 45 minutes north through the rice terraces
  • Ubud — The cultural heart of Bali. Art galleries, the Sacred Monkey Forest, and Tegallalang rice terraces are about 90 minutes inland
  • Uluwatu Temple — Clifftop temple with the famous Kecak fire dance at sunset, about an hour south
  • Canggu — Surf breaks, coffee shops, and a more laid-back village feel, just 20 minutes up the coast

Where to Stay

Seminyak is at its best when you have your own space to retreat to. A private villa with a pool, staff, and chef means you get the neighbourhood on your doorstep without the hotel crowds. A few of our favourites:

  • Villa Wolfe — A striking 3-bedroom villa with one of Seminyak’s most distinctive designs. Boutique luxury at its finest.
  • Alarte Estate — A grand 9-bedroom estate perfect for large groups, weddings, or celebrations.
  • Villa Koyama — Five bedrooms with a premium feel and enough space for families and groups to spread out.
  • The Chands Delapan — A beachfront 3-bedroom villa on Batu Belig Beach with an infinity pool and ocean-view terrace.
  • Villa Dreamer — A 4-bedroom villa that lives up to its name, with thoughtful design and a central location.
