Eat Street: Seminyak Restaurant Guide

Seminyak, Bali2 min read

Jalan Laksmana — better known as “Eat Street” — is a 500-metre stretch of road in the heart of Seminyak that contains perhaps the highest concentration of quality restaurants anywhere in Bali. What started as a handful of expat-run cafes in the early 2000s has become a globally recognised dining destination.

Fine Dining

Merah Putih is the showstopper — a soaring bamboo-cathedral interior housing modern Indonesian cuisine that regularly lands on Asia’s 50 Best lists. Book ahead for dinner; the tasting menu is exceptional.

Mama San occupies a converted warehouse with vintage decor and serves pan-Asian cuisine with Indonesian roots. Their dim sum brunch on weekends is legendary.

Sardine sits in a bamboo pavilion overlooking rice paddies. The seafood is sourced from Jimbaran’s morning market and the setting is unforgettable at sunset.

Casual & Mid-Range

Sisterfields does outstanding brunch — think Melbourne-quality coffee and avocado toast with a tropical twist. Expect a wait on weekends.

Naughty Nuri’s has been serving its famous pork ribs since 1995. No frills, cold Bintang, and some of the best barbecue on the island.

Motel Mexicola combines Mexican street food with a party atmosphere. The frozen margaritas are dangerously good. Great for groups.

Don’t skip the warungs. Some of the best food in Seminyak comes from tiny family-run places serving nasi campur and mie goreng for under $3. Ask your villa staff for their personal favourites — they always know the best spots.

  • Lunch is always easier to get into and often has set menu deals

  • Dress code is relaxed smart-casual everywhere except a few fine dining spots
