Luxury Villas in Chiang Rai

Thailand's northernmost province, a land of misty hills, tea plantations, striking temples and the Golden Triangle.

Neighbourhood Guide

Why Stay in Chiang Rai?

Chiang Rai is Thailand’s northernmost province, a region of rolling green hills, rivers and rice fields that stretches up to the borders with Myanmar and Laos. It is quieter and more rural than Chiang Mai, and the countryside is its great appeal, with mountain villages, tea and coffee plantations and cool, misty mornings in the dry season.

The province is home to some of Thailand’s most striking modern temples. Wat Rong Khun, the White Temple, is an extraordinary shimmering creation just outside the city, and the deep-blue Wat Rong Suea Ten and the dark wooden houses of Baan Dam Museum are close by. To the north, the Golden Triangle marks the meeting point of three countries on the Mekong River, and the hilltop tea estates of Doi Mae Salong offer sweeping views.

Villas in Chiang Rai are usually set in the countryside, surrounded by gardens, rice fields or hills, and make peaceful, spacious bases for families and groups. They suit travellers who want to slow down, enjoy the scenery and explore the north at their own pace, and Chiang Rai’s airport has direct flights from Bangkok.
