Luxury Villas in Natai Beach

A long, quiet beach on the mainland just north of Phuket, with beachfront villas, open sand and the airport only around half an hour away.

Neighbourhood Guide

Why Stay in Natai Beach?

Natai Beach is not on Phuket at all. It lies on the mainland in Phang Nga province, a short drive north of the island across the Sarasin Bridge, near the small town of Khok Kloi. That short hop makes a big difference. Where Phuket’s west coast is lined with resorts and restaurants, Natai is a long, open stretch of sand, several kilometres from end to end, with only a scattering of villas and a few low-rise resorts spread far apart along the shore.

The beach faces west onto the Andaman Sea, so every evening ends with an uninterrupted sunset over the water. Behind the sand are casuarina trees, coconut palms and quiet country roads, and the villas here are generally set right on or just behind the beach, with gardens that open straight onto the sand. It is the kind of place where you can walk for a long time and see very few other people.

Natai suits guests who want genuine peace: couples, families with young children, and groups who would rather spend their days on the beach and around the pool than out exploring. There is very little nightlife or shopping on the doorstep, and most evenings are spent at the villa, often with a private chef. When you do want a change of scene, Khok Kloi has local markets and seafood, and Phuket’s northern beaches, Laguna and Bang Tao are within around forty-five minutes.

It is also easier to reach than many people expect. Because Phuket International Airport is at the northern end of the island, Natai is often closer to the airport than the resort beaches of southern Phuket, usually around 25 to 35 minutes by car. The mainland also opens up day trips that are harder from Phuket, such as Phang Nga Bay by boat and the national parks and waterfalls towards Khao Lak.

Practical Info

Planning Your Natai Beach Stay

Best Time to Visit

November to April brings calm water, clear skies and the best beach conditions, with December to February the busiest stretch. From May to October the south-west monsoon brings heavy showers and big waves on this open coast, so it suits guests who are happy to spend more time by the pool.

Getting There

Fly into Phuket International Airport, then drive north across the Sarasin Bridge into Phang Nga province, usually around 25 to 35 minutes in total. Private transfers are the easiest option. Phuket Town is around an hour away, and Khao Lak is roughly an hour's drive further north.

Getting Around

Natai is rural and spread out, with no taxis waiting on the street, so a car with a driver or pre-booked transfers are the practical choice. Khok Kloi town is a short drive inland for shops and markets. Day trips to Phuket's northern beaches, Laguna and Phang Nga Bay are all straightforward by car.

Where to Eat

There are only a few places to eat along Natai itself, mostly simple Thai and seafood restaurants and the resorts' own dining rooms. Khok Kloi has local markets and seafood restaurants. Most guests make the most of a private chef at the villa, with fresh local seafood and dinner served as the sun goes down.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

No. Natai is in Phang Nga province, on the mainland just north of Phuket, reached by crossing the Sarasin Bridge. It is often described as part of the wider Phuket area because guests fly into Phuket International Airport, which is only around 25 to 35 minutes away by car.

From roughly November to April the Andaman Sea is usually calm and Natai is pleasant for swimming and long beach walks. During the south-west monsoon, roughly May to October, the waves and currents on this open coast can be strong, so it is best to stay out of the water on rough days and use the villa pool.

Natai is about peace rather than activity. Days are spent on the beach and by the pool, with sunset over the sea each evening. For variety, Khok Kloi has local markets and seafood, boat trips into Phang Nga Bay are easy to arrange, and Phuket's northern beaches and the Laguna area are within around forty-five minutes.

Usually around 25 to 35 minutes by car, heading north from the airport and across the Sarasin Bridge into Phang Nga. That is often quicker than the drive from the airport to Phuket's southern beaches. Private airport transfers can be arranged for your villa stay.

The dry season from November to April is the most popular, with calm seas and long sunny days, and Christmas, New Year and Chinese New Year book out early. From May to October the south-west monsoon brings rain and rougher seas, but the beach is even quieter and the countryside is at its greenest.
