Cinnamon House
Why We Recommend Cinnamon House
Cinnamon House is a sea-facing home on the outskirts of Weligama, set within an 850-square-metre private estate of tall trees and lawn above the south coast. Its terraces step down the slope so that almost every level enjoys a view of the Indian Ocean, and the beach lies just across the road. Weligama’s surf and Mirissa’s whale-watching are close by, and Galle Fort is around half an hour’s drive, making it a fine base for extended families and groups of friends who want space, privacy and sea views.
The private infinity pool faces the sea, with shaded loungers along its edge and underwater speakers for music while you swim. A sofa terrace sits beside it, an upper terrace holds a long outdoor dining table, and a lantern-lit pavilion makes a lovely setting for dinner after dark. Climb to the rooftop for sunset, where loungers look out over the treetops to the ocean, or wander the lawn and find a shady corner beneath the trees.
Inside, whitewashed walls, carved arches and timber-beamed ceilings give the house a cool, airy feel. The living room has deep sofas and a second seating area that opens onto a long covered verandah, and there is an indoor jacuzzi pool with built-in lounge seating, plus a dedicated spa room for massages. The five bedrooms, three with king beds and two upstairs with twin beds, all have air conditioning, mosquito nets and en-suite bathrooms, and the master has double basins, a bathtub and a daybed. A butler and housekeeping team look after the house, breakfast is included, and the chef can prepare lunch and dinner on request.
