Green Parrot Beach Villa

Green Parrot Beach Villa is a private two-bedroom beach house at Ambalangoda, on Sri Lanka’s south-west coast, where a manicured tropical garden runs straight down to the sand. Classic clay-tiled roofs, whitewashed walls and dark timber shutters give it the look of a traditional coastal home, and with room for four guests it is a lovely choice for couples travelling together or a small family wanting peace, space and a beach of their own.

The heart of the garden is a thirteen-metre pool set into a lawn edged with palms, with loungers and umbrellas along its deck. A wide veranda with timber pillars and planter chairs looks over the pool, and the lawn opens directly onto the beach for barefoot walks along the shore. There is BBQ equipment and a teppanyaki grill for cooking outdoors, and the garden is a calm spot for morning yoga.

Inside, a high-ceilinged living room with deep timber sofas and built-in shelving leads to a separate dining area and a fully equipped kitchen. Both bedrooms have king-size four-poster beds with mosquito nets, air conditioning and TVs, and each has its own en-suite bathroom with a walk-in shower in polished concrete. Breakfast is included, housekeeping and a personal guest assistant look after the day to day, and lunch and dinner can be cooked at the villa.
