ME Villa

ME Villa is a relaxed, two-storey family home in Weligama on Sri Lanka’s south coast, full of traditional Sri Lankan character and surrounded by tropical greenery. It offers an easy, down-to-earth stay within reach of Weligama’s surf beaches, local markets and seafood restaurants, and the famous stilt fishermen of the southern coast. With four bedrooms for up to eleven guests, it suits families and groups of friends looking for good-value space by the sea.

The garden wraps around a private swimming pool of seven by three metres, edged with reclining chairs and shaded by palms and umbrellas. A covered terrace and outdoor dining area sit beside the pool, with a counter and stools where breakfast can be laid out under the trees. The garden gives children a safe, open space to play, and the upstairs balconies look straight down over the pool.

Indoors, the open-plan living area is bright and colourful, and the modern kitchen has an island, a large fridge and everything needed for self-catering. Each bedroom has a traditional four-poster bed draped in mosquito nets, with handcrafted wooden furniture and air conditioning. Upstairs, a double room and a larger room with two double beds both open onto balconies, while downstairs one bedroom leads out to a garden terrace and another has three single beds. Daily housekeeping, pool care and gardening are provided, and a cook can prepare meals from a set menu.
