Neem Tree House
Why We Recommend Neem Tree House
Neem Tree House is a private three-bedroom villa near Kirinda, on the edge of Yala National Park in Sri Lanka’s wild south-east, set in a large garden that runs down to a quiet lake. Peacocks, monkeys, lizards and a busy cast of birds pass through the grounds, and guests regularly spot crocodiles in the water, so the wildlife starts long before your first safari. It suits families and small groups who want a comfortable, well-run base for Yala with real space to unwind in the afternoons.
The pool sits beside the house with sun loungers on the surrounding paving and the garden opening out beyond, and a covered terrace and an outdoor dining area make the most of the cooler evenings, with a barbecue for grilled suppers. The standout is an elevated viewing tower at the lake’s edge, a peaceful perch for sunset and for watching birds come in to roost.
Inside, the house mixes warm brick, timber and earthy tones, with tall glass doors sliding open to the garden, two separate living rooms with deep sofas and board games, and a long wooden dining table. The three bedrooms have four-poster beds with mosquito nets, air conditioning and en-suite bathrooms with walk-in showers, and the third room’s two singles can be joined as a king. A team of three looks after daily housekeeping, the garden and pool, breakfast is included, and the chef cooks lunch and dinner from a menu.
