Villa Kai Lani

From the loungers at Villa Kai Lani, the eye travels over the infinity edge, down across green hills and boulder-strewn headlands, to a bay of brilliant blue on Lombok’s south coast. Set high on a hillside above Kuta, this is a contemporary villa built to frame one of the most dramatic coastal views in the region, with sunsets that turn the whole valley amber.

Clean white walls, warm timber ceilings and floor-to-ceiling glass give the house a calm, modern feel. The open-plan living area has deep sofas and a long timber dining table, a sleek kitchen with an island sits alongside, and a glass-walled lounge pavilion juts out towards the sea. Outside, the infinity pool is lined with cushioned sunbeds under parasols, the lawn leads to a garden of grasses and granite boulders, and there is a gym with a view and a space for yoga.

Four en-suite bedrooms each open to the hills or the ocean through wide windows, including three king rooms and a bunk room that children will love. A team of five looks after housekeeping and security, and a chef can be arranged.
