Atulya Residence

Atulya Residence is one of five private residences on Panacea Retreat, an estate in the green hills above Bophut on Koh Samui’s north coast. From up here the view runs over palm-clad valleys to the bay of Bophut and the islands offshore, and it is especially beautiful in the soft light of early morning. Life on the hill feels unhurried, yet Bophut Beach and Fisherman’s Village are only around three kilometres below.

The villa is built around a twenty-metre infinity pool, its edge melting into the view. Bright orange umbrellas shade a row of sunbeds, round daybeds invite long afternoons, and a covered pool sala holds a dining table and a swim-up bar with sunken stools. Above, the elevated living and dining pavilion runs almost the length of the house beneath a soaring wood-lined ceiling, with bi-folding glass doors on both sides and a glass-fronted balcony looking down over the garden and pool. A square table seats ten beside an open kitchen with an island breakfast bar and a built-in wine cooler.

All five bedrooms have king beds, air conditioning, a TV, a seating area and their own coffee machine, and every one has an en-suite bathroom. The two master suites, one opening straight onto the pool terrace, add vaulted timber ceilings, a dressing area and a terrazzo bathtub by a window facing the ocean. Breakfast is included, meals from the estate’s central kitchen can be served at the villa, and a private chef can cook in the villa’s own kitchen on request at an extra charge.
