Casa Del Mar

At Casa Del Mar the ocean announces itself: waves break white against the rocks at the foot of the garden, and the spray rises in view of the bedrooms and bathtubs. The villa sits on a rugged clifftop above Sandy Bay on Nusa Lembongan, a short boat crossing from Bali where island days run slower.

The house is breezy and coastal in feel, with soaring pitched ceilings, white-painted beams and glass doors folding open to a lawn that runs the length of the villa. Beyond it, a fifteen-metre pool and timber deck face straight out to sea, and an open-sided dining pavilion with cushioned benches catches the sunset. Inside, the open living room flows into a dining table for ten and a fully equipped kitchen, while a mezzanine lounge up top has sofas, a swing chair, a Smart TV and sweeping water views.

The bedrooms are cool, light and air-conditioned, each with a king bed and ocean or garden views, and the bathrooms are something special: freestanding tubs set against open views so you can soak while the swell rolls in. Breakfast is included every day, a villa attendant and housekeepers look after the house, and a private chef can cook lunch and dinner at extra charge. Sandy Bay’s beach and beach club are only about 300 metres away, with Devil’s Tears a kilometre along the coast.
