Himmapana Villa 2

Himmapana Villa 2 is a calm, light-filled pool villa in Himmapana Villas, a small gated cluster of twelve contemporary homes on the green edge of Kamala, with forested hills rising behind the rooftops. Pale stone floors, honey-toned timber panels and soft grey furnishings give the house a serene, modern Asian feel, and wide glass doors keep the garden and the water in view from almost every room. It is a relaxed, easy-going choice for a couple, two friends or a small family who want a pool of their own and Kamala Beach close by.

Outside, the private pool, about six metres by three and a half, sits right against the house, and the best seat is the sunken lounge built into its edge: a long, cushioned sofa where you can sit with your feet almost in the water. Teak loungers line the deck behind a screen of tropical planting, and a woven egg chair tucked into a leafy corner makes a quiet spot for morning coffee. Indoors, the living room rises to a vaulted, timber-beamed ceiling over deep sofas and a TV, with a dining table for six and a sleek, fully equipped kitchen with oven and full-height fridge sharing the same bright open-plan space.

Both bedrooms have double beds dressed in crisp white linen, smart timber headboards and big windows framing the hills. The master is paired with a serene bathroom built around a sculptural freestanding tub, and the second bedroom looks out to its own small patch of garden, beside a marble shower room. Reception staff and round-the-clock security look after the estate, breakfast and Thai dishes can be ordered from an iPad, and a free daytime shuttle runs down to Kamala Beach, about two kilometres away.
