Kalim Beach House

Kalim Beach House sits right on the shore at Kalim, the calm, rocky-edged cove just north of Patong, with a big tropical garden running down to the sand and nothing but the bay beyond. Shady old trees, palms and lawns frame the view across Patong Bay to the hills, and every evening the sun sets straight over the water. Seven bedrooms and room for up to fifteen make it a relaxed base for large families and groups of friends who want to be on the beach, yet a few minutes from Patong’s restaurants and shops.

A long, fifteen-metre pool stretches through the lawn towards the sea, lined with sun loungers and overlooked by a traditional thatched sala where you can doze in the shade or eat with the waves just metres away. The home itself is bright and breezy, with white timber-clad walls, stone floors and glass doors that fold the main living room out onto the garden. A sleek blue-and-white kitchen with an island opens to a long dining table, and there is a book-lined study, a cosy den for films, a games room with a full-size billiard table and a card table, and shelves of board games for rainy afternoons.

The bedrooms are spread over two floors in a mix of king, queen, twin and single rooms, several with balconies and sea views through the trees. The main suite has warm teak furniture and a bathroom with a bathtub framed by the garden. A housekeeper and guest assistant look after the house day to day, meals can be prepared at home on request, and the airport transfer on arrival is included for one car.
