Villa Julia

Villa Julia is a bold, sunlit pool villa at Hua Thanon, on Koh Samui’s peaceful south-east coast, just a few steps from a wide, quiet beach of pale sand. Designed by a French architect, it blends crisp modern lines with Thai touches, from carved timber ceilings to a peaked pavilion roof, all set off by splashes of vivid red against white walls and dark polished wood. It is a stylish, easy-going home for families and friends who want space, privacy and the sea close by.

Life centres on the courtyard. A long blue pool runs between tropical planting and the house, with red-cushioned loungers under big parasols and a shaded Thai sala furnished with deep red sofas for lazy afternoons. Round rattan chairs on the terrace catch the evening light, and the whole space glows after dark. Inside, glass doors open the living room to the pool, a dining table seats ten beneath statement pendant lights, and the striking red and white kitchen has a breakfast counter and every modern appliance. A home cinema, satellite TV and smart controls for lights, music and air conditioning add comfort on slower days.

Five bedrooms open onto the garden or the pool. Three have king beds, including two master suites with jacuzzi bathtubs, and two have twin beds, ideal for children or friends travelling together. Each has its own bathroom with a walk-in shower, air conditioning and a TV. Housekeeping and 24-hour security are part of the stay, an airport transfer is included, and a chef, massage, babysitting or a boat trip can all be arranged.
