Villa Lulla

Two pools, two houses and one long stretch of Amuk Bay shoreline: Villa Lulla joins a pair of neighbouring oceanfront villas in Candidasa through a connecting door, creating an eight-bedroom stay for a large family or several couples travelling together. One side is framed by a twenty-metre infinity pool that seems to run straight into the sea; the other by a twenty-five-metre pool lined with coconut palms.

Each villa keeps its own living room, dining table, kitchen and pool, so the group can spread out or come together as the mood takes them. The interiors are bright and contemporary, with white floors, high ceilings and walls of glass looking out to the water, while thatched bales by the pools make shaded spots for lunch or an afternoon nap. From the garden, steps lead down to calm water and a reef that is easy to snorkel straight from the shore.

The eight bedrooms each have a large bed, a small sitting area with a TV and an attached bathroom, decorated with paintings by local artists. A combined team of ten staff keeps both houses immaculate, a cook in each villa prepares authentic Balinese dishes at the cost of groceries, and the temples of Tirta Gangga, the ancient village of Tenganan and the slopes of Mount Agung are all within reach for day trips.
