Villa Origin

Villa Origin is a handsome two-storey house in Balapitiya, just north of Ambalangoda on Sri Lanka’s west coast, around two hundred metres from the beach and close to the town centre. Built around a courtyard pool beneath terracotta roofs, it mixes clean modern lines with warm timber, polished concrete floors and traditional shuttered doors. Five bedrooms for up to ten guests and a calm, kid-friendly layout make it an easy choice for families and multi-generational groups.

The swimming pool sits at the heart of the villa, framed by the house on three sides and opening out to a well-kept lawn shaded by tall trees. Ground-floor bedrooms step straight out to the water, and the garden is a lovely spot for an unhurried breakfast or a barbecue under the stars, with equipment provided. In the evening, soft lighting along the verandas makes the courtyard glow, and the beach is only a short stroll away.

Inside, a double-height hall with a sculptural staircase leads to a long wooden dining table that seats the whole family, alongside a comfortable living area and a well-equipped kitchen. Upstairs, the bedrooms have romantic four-poster beds and wooden accents, while downstairs rooms open to the pool and garden. There are four king rooms and one twin room, five bathrooms and plenty of wardrobe space, and the staff can cook Sri Lankan breakfasts, lunches and dinners on request.
