Villa Paloma

Villa Paloma sits behind a wall on a quiet Seminyak lane, and the first thing you see is the pool. A long ribbon of green mosaic runs almost the full depth of the plot, lawn down one side, a timber sun deck down the other, and banana palms and traveller’s palms closing it in overhead. The ground floor has no glazing at all along that edge, so living room, bar and dining table simply stop where the terrace begins and the villa is open to the garden from the moment you walk in. Seminyak Beach is about fifteen minutes on foot, and the restaurants of Jalan Raya Seminyak are closer still.

That ground floor reads as one long room. A deep grey sectional faces a wall-mounted television and a tall pop-art canvas, and behind it a second seating group gathers under the open stair with wicker trunks for tables and red floor cushions. A bar counter in dark stone runs alongside the pool with stools pulled up to it, a row of scarlet bird figurines on the shelf above and a carved white rhino below. The kitchen works behind that counter, its mirrored splashback throwing the garden back at you while you cook, and dinner happens at a timber table for eight beneath a grey-and-red abstract.

All three bedrooms are upstairs, opening off a gallery that runs the length of the villa with planting spilling over its edge and treetops beyond the rail. Two take carved teak four-posters hung with white drapes; the third has a slatted teak frame with monochrome boat drawings above it. Each room adds a single bed alongside the double, so the villa sleeps nine without anyone bedding down in the living room. Every bedroom has its own bathroom finished in black slate, with a river-stone basin on a timber counter, a walk-in rain shower under a skylight and a freestanding oval bath in one of them.

The garden is the reason to stay in rather than go out. A parasol and two loungers sit on the timber deck, a living wall of ferns runs along one boundary, carved figures stand in the planting and a stone path curls off through heliconia to a patch of lawn at the far end. The pool has a shallow step-in section at one end, and a pool fence can be fitted on request. Staff will shop for groceries and cook a simple breakfast at no charge, with only the supermarket receipt to settle, and the Bali Management Villas team handles everything else. Parking is on the property.

Villa Paloma will suit a family or a group of friends who want Seminyak within walking distance but would rather eat breakfast beside their own pool than queue for one. Take it for a week, swim lengths before the heat comes up, and let the staff do the shopping while you work out which restaurant on Jalan Raya Seminyak to start with.
