Villa San Suk

Some villas show you the sea; Villa San Suk hands it to you whole. Perched high in the Chaweng Noi hills on Samui’s east coast, the villa is built as a series of open pavilions under soaring timber ceilings, and from almost anywhere inside them — the living room, the dining table, all four bedrooms — the view runs unbroken over the gulf, its scattered islands and the green shoulders of the hillside below. Each of the four bedrooms is its own retreat — the master wakes to the sea, one suite opens onto a private terrace behind billowing canopy nets, another catches the sunset from the pillow — and the bathrooms carry the hillside indoors with stone-walled rain showers. Downstairs, a games room with a pool table keeps the late hours entertained.

What sets San Suk apart day to day is how looked-after it feels. Housekeeping comes daily, a cooked breakfast is complimentary each morning, a chef can take over lunch and dinner for little more than the cost of the ingredients, and round-trip airport transfers are part of the stay. The enclave itself is quiet and private, yet Chaweng Noi’s beach, the viewpoints and the restaurants of Chaweng are only a short drive down the hill — remarkable value for a villa of this scale, on this ridge.
