Baan Maliwan

Baan Maliwan trades sand at the doorstep for height. Set on the hillside within the Dhevatara Residence estate, this three-storey villa looks out over palm tops and pavilion roofs to the blue of Bophut Bay, and the higher you climb, the wider the view becomes. Named after the star jasmine, it is a smaller, more private choice for couples, families and friends who want the ocean panorama without a big house.

The main living level holds the pool, the lounge and the kitchen together. Floor-to-ceiling glass wraps the air-conditioned living room and its L-shaped sofa, the dining table sits beside a kitchen with a central island for breakfast, and outside a twelve-metre infinity pool is lined with oversized bean bags rather than sunbeds. Two bedrooms open directly onto the pool, one of them set up with twin beds that can be made into a king.

The master suite has the top floor to itself: a four-poster bed, a walk-in wardrobe, a private balcony and a sunken bathtub framed by a picture window onto the sea. Breakfast is included each day, a villa manager and housekeeper look after the house, and a private chef can be arranged on request at extra charge. The beach is a short walk downhill and Fisherman’s Village is around six minutes’ drive.
