Casa Mara

Casa Mara turns its back on the street and opens entirely inward, arranging itself around a curved pool in a sunlit courtyard. Cream plaster, terracotta roof tiles and a run of soft arches give it an unmistakably Mediterranean warmth, and the effect in the middle of Canggu is of stepping through a doorway into somewhere quieter.

The living pavilion is one long, calm room — built-in seating, arched alcoves and rattan pendants — with glass doors that fold back so the courtyard becomes part of it. Nothing is loud here; the palette stays in cream and pale timber, and the pool does the talking.

Two bedrooms sleep four, each with its own arched ensuite. Batu Mejan Beach is minutes away and the cafés of Canggu are a short walk, making Casa Mara an easy, self-contained base for two couples or a small family.
