Villa Nyra

Villa Nyra is reached along a narrow white-walled lane, palms rising from the terrazzo and wall lights glowing at dusk, that ends at a tall dark timber door. Beyond it the plot is given almost entirely to water: a pool tiled in deep green runs the length of the courtyard, and at one end a cushioned daybed sits on a plaster platform built out over the surface, sheltered by a softly curved arch. Two timber loungers wait on the terrace opposite, a stone-clad wall carries an outdoor rain shower, and the white house rises two storeys around it all, glass below and a planted balcony above.

Full-height sliding doors open the ground floor to the pool. The living room steps down into a sunken L-shaped banquette in pale linen, facing a smart television set among arched plaster niches filled with ceramics and dried grasses, with a sound system for evenings in. Behind it, a dark timber island with a marble-look top holds the sink, and a dark timber dining table for six sits beneath rattan pendants between kitchen and lounge. The kitchen is properly equipped, with a stove, microwave, fridge-freezer, coffee maker, blender and wine glasses, and a powder room downstairs keeps the bedrooms private.

An open white staircase, sculptural and railing-free, climbs to the two bedrooms. Each has a large, crisply made bed, air conditioning, plenty of wardrobe space and its own ensuite. The first is built around an arched alcove of floating timber shelves; the second frames its bed in an arched niche, with a macramé hanging and a wide window that fills with colour at sunset. The bathrooms share a calm palette of warm plaster and black fittings: long concrete trough basins, round mirrors lit from the side and glass-screened rain showers, one beneath a skylight. There is a dedicated workspace and fast Wi-Fi as well.

Villa staff clean daily, and every stay includes a welcome drink, bath towels, high-speed Wi-Fi, a safety box and concierge service. Breakfast at the villa, in-villa massages, laundry, a pool fence, airport transfers, a car with a driver and surf lessons can all be arranged. Batu Bolong Beach, Canggu’s beach clubs and its busiest cafe streets are only minutes away, so evenings out are easy and the walk home is short. It suits couples, two couples sharing, or a small family who want a polished, photogenic pool villa right in the heart of Canggu.
