Celes Tropical Suite

Celes Tropical Suite is a spacious two-bedroom apartment within a boutique resort at Bophut, on Koh Samui’s north coast, where palm-fringed lawns run down towards the water and the hills of Koh Phangan sit on the horizon. The resort mixes classic Thai touches, such as a temple-style pavilion and carved wooden panels, with bright, modern rooms, and it has a relaxed, unhurried feel. At around 176 square metres, the suite gives a small family or two couples far more room than a standard hotel stay.

Step out onto the balcony and you look through the palms to the sea, with loungers set up for reading in the shade. Down below, the resort’s pools are the place to spend the afternoon: a long pool facing the bay, a winding lagoon pool between the low white buildings and a lantern-lit pool in front of the Thai pavilion that glows after dark. Inside the suite, a light-filled open-plan living and dining room has a comfortable sofa, a dining table for four and a fully equipped kitchen with a coffee maker.

Both bedrooms have air conditioning and their own bathroom, with crisp white linen and big windows letting in the light, and the main bedroom has views towards the water. Breakfast is included each morning, housekeeping comes daily, and there is a gym and an on-site restaurant with tables on the sand. Karma Beach is roughly 350 metres away, Fisherman’s Village is a short stroll along the shore, and boat trips to Ang Thong Marine Park leave from nearby.
