Villa Katamalee sits in the heart of the gated Katamanda estate, high on the green hillside between Kata and Kata Noi, with a view that sweeps across the treetops to the turquoise water of Kata Noi Bay. It is a generous two-level home of more than eight hundred square metres, built in classic Thai style with steep tiled roofs, vaulted timber ceilings, dark wood floors and crisp white walls. Friendly guards at the gate and well-kept grounds make it feel safe and peaceful, yet the beach is only about 800 metres away.

Everything opens towards the pool. The long infinity pool, twelve and a half metres from end to end, runs along a sunny deck lined with loungers and big white parasols, and its far edge seems to drop straight into the bay. Mornings bring soft light over the hills, and evenings bring sunsets across the sea. The living and dining spaces are open-sided pavilions that flow straight onto the deck, with antique Asian pieces, striking wall art and sliding glass doors you can leave open all day, while the large modern kitchen has high-end appliances for anyone who enjoys cooking.

Four air-conditioned bedrooms, each with its own bathroom, sleep eight in comfort. The master suite has a four-poster king bed, a television and wide views over the gardens and bay, and two further king rooms each open onto a private terrace with sun loungers. The fourth room has twin beds that can be joined into a king, which makes it easy to fit children, friends or another couple. A villa manager is on call, housekeeping, pool and garden care are all taken care of, and guests can use the estate pool and tennis court.
