Kya Beach House
Why We Recommend Kya Beach House
Kya Beach House sits right on the sand at Bang Po, on Samui’s quiet north-west coast, with some thirty-two metres of private beach frontage and nothing but palms and turquoise water between you and the islands on the horizon. Once a simple Thai fisherman’s house, it has been lovingly reworked into a barefoot beach home of whitewashed walls, natural stone and rattan, set on a generous plot of around sixteen hundred square metres. It is the classic Samui escape: sandy toes, a hammock strung between the palms and the sea as your front garden.
The saltwater infinity pool, around eight metres long with a shallow end, looks straight out to sea, and a sun-bleached deck with a big daybed sits between the water and the beach. Down on the sand, a thatched sala with deep sofas and floor cushions is the place to while away the afternoon, while meals are served outdoors at a long wooden table under a leafy gazebo strung with lights. Inside, the airy, air-conditioned living room opens through glass doors to the pool, with rattan sofas, turquoise accents and a television, and a second lounge offers a quieter corner. The kitchen is fully equipped, with a breakfast counter and high stools.
The three king bedrooms are each in a different spot: the master is a separate pavilion by the pool with its own terrace, one room sits upstairs with sweeping sea views, and the third opens onto the garden. All are air-conditioned with canopy beds, and each has an en-suite bathroom with stone basins and indoor or outdoor showers. Breakfast is included, a return airport transfer is part of the stay, and the team provides housekeeping and 24-hour security, while yoga, Thai boxing lessons, massages and meals can all be arranged.
