Laemsingh Villa 2 clings to the green headland above Surin Bay, where old shade trees lean out over the water and the Andaman Sea fills almost every window. Steep, Thai-style timber roofs rise over pavilions of glass and polished wood, and the whole house is arranged to face the sea. Laem Singh Beach, one of Phuket’s prettiest small coves, is less than a kilometre away, and Surin Beach is within easy walking distance.

Water is the theme here. Two fifteen-metre infinity pools step down the slope, one above the other, their edges dissolving into the bay, with loungers and shaded salas lined up along the decks. Two sea-view decks jut out towards the horizon for sunbathing, outdoor dinners or a massage as the light fades, and a small lawn dotted with frangipani makes a soft spot for morning coffee. Indoors, two living rooms open through floor-to-ceiling glass doors onto the terraces, and a long dining table beneath the vaulted timber roof sits alongside a sleek, fully equipped kitchen.

All five bedrooms look out to sea, with air conditioning, ceiling fans and generous wardrobe space. The master suite is a retreat in itself, with its own private pool, balcony, sitting room and work space, and two further king suites each have a balcony, a lounge corner and a desk. A top-floor king room connected to the second living room suits teenagers or a young couple. A villa manager leads the team, with housekeeping, pool and garden care and 24-hour security, and a private chef, barbecues and massages can all be arranged.
