Salt Villa Canggu

Curtains of trailing vines spill from the roof of Salt Villa’s poolside pavilion, framing a round porthole window and a long cushioned lounge set just above the waterline. In front of it, a slender green-tiled pool stretches the length of a manicured lawn, with stone-clad columns and wide glass walls lining the far side. It is a striking six-bedroom home in Canggu, where clean modern architecture meets natural stone, warm timber and Balinese touches, and it feels remarkably calm once the gates close behind you.

The heart of the villa is an enclosed, air-conditioned living area with terracotta-toned sofas and timber-panelled walls, while a separate media room with a large screen and a round low table makes a cosy den for film nights; triple-glazed doors keep both spaces wonderfully quiet. Meals can be taken around a round dining table for the whole group or at a smaller table by the kitchen, which is fitted out in brushed steel with a large island. The bedrooms are serene and spacious, several with four-poster beds and sliding doors to the garden, and the bathrooms bring the greenery in through big picture windows, some with deep soaking tubs.

Breakfast is included daily, and a team of six takes care of housekeeping, the garden and security. Outside, sun loungers under fringed parasols line the far end of the pool, with in-pool seating along the pavilion for long afternoons in the water. Canggu’s cafés and restaurants, Echo Beach and the dining spots of Pererenan are all within easy reach.
