Six Hills Villa
Why We Recommend Six Hills Villa
Perched on a lush hillside above Plai Laem on Koh Samui’s quiet northeast coast, Six Hills is that rare villa delivering a true resort-level experience in a wholly private setting. Its dual-pavilion plan — one for sleeping, one for living — lends a sense of space and separation most five-bedroom villas cannot match. Step outside and the Gulf of Thailand opens before you, the silhouette of Koh Pha Ngan rising from the water on clear mornings — a view you never quite get used to, even after a week.
All five king suites occupy the sleeping pavilion across two levels. Upstairs, the two masters claim the best of the panorama, floor-to-ceiling glass framing the sea and a freestanding bathtub set to face the view rather than hidden in a corner. Downstairs, three further bedrooms open onto a tropical garden anchored by a magnificent banyan tree. Four of the five bathrooms pair those sculptural tubs with walk-in rain showers and double vanities, while the more compact fifth room suits children or a couple happy with a cosier footprint.
Across the garden, the living pavilion is built around vaulted ceilings and glass doors that fold back to blur inside and out, its tangerine and chocolate palette contemporary without trying too hard. The resident chef cooks a complimentary daily breakfast and is on hand for Thai lunches and dinners at a fair ingredient-plus-service rate, while a full-time team keeps everything immaculate. The 12-metre pool sits at the heart of it all, sun loungers to one side and a traditional Thai sala to the other, with a small fitness room tucked below. Plai Laem’s nearest beach is 300 metres downhill, Choeng Mon five minutes by car, Chaweng about fifteen, and the airport just five kilometres away with a complimentary round-trip transfer.
