Why We Recommend Temple Estate
Finding a villa that sleeps 12 or more without feeling like a hotel conference wing is surprisingly difficult in Bali. Temple Estate solves this by combining two independent villas — Villa Puri Temple and Villa Puri Pura — connected by a hidden garden pathway. You get six bedrooms across four buildings, two private swimming pools, and all the communal spaces you need, while every couple or family unit still has their own bedroom, bathroom, and quiet corner. At $110 per bedroom per night in low season, that is exceptional value for a fully staffed Canggu compound.
The two villas complement each other perfectly. Puri Temple brings the entertainment — a 9-foot American billiards table in its own party room, a media room with surround-sound home theatre, and an upstairs bale with bar and barbecue overlooking the compound and the neighbouring Hindu village temple. Puri Pura brings the privacy — two self-contained guest bungalows, each with their own terrace, kitchenette, and open-air bathroom, plus an antique-filled main villa with a master suite featuring a four-poster bed and garden bathtub.
With two pools (a 10-metre L-shaped pool with jacuzzi at Puri Temple, and a lap pool at Puri Pura), two kitchens, and multiple dining areas both covered and open-air, the estate comfortably absorbs big groups without anyone feeling on top of each other. The full-time staff — chef, butler, housekeeper, and security — look after the entire compound, and daily breakfast is included in the rate.
Our Favourite Features
- Two swimming pools and a jacuzzi whirlpool give everyone space to spread out — adults at one end, children at the other
- The hidden garden pathway between villas means families or friend groups can socialise together or retreat to their own space at will
- Full-size 9-foot American billiards table in a dedicated party room — the social hub of the compound after dinner
- Puri Pura’s two self-contained bungalows each have their own kitchen, terrace, and open-air bathroom — ideal for couples wanting independence within the group
- Upstairs bale at Puri Temple overlooks the temple and gardens, with volcano views at sunrise and the sound of waves from Echo Beach at sunset
Good To Know
- The estate is two separate villas, not one single building — the hidden pathway is an outdoor garden walk of about 30 seconds between properties
- The compound sits beside an active Balinese village temple; ceremonial gamelan music is part of the atmosphere on holy days
- Echo Beach is roughly 15 minutes on foot or a 5-minute drive — the villa is not beachfront, but the walking-distance Batu Bolong strip has plenty of restaurants and bars
- Staff serve the entire compound, and the chef can prepare meals at either villa’s kitchen — coordinate meal times with your butler for the best experience
- If you do not need all six bedrooms, Puri Temple (3BR) and Puri Pura (3BR or 4BR) can also be booked independently at lower rates
