Villa Amaya
Why We Recommend Villa Amaya
Tucked down a quiet lane just off the lively Double Six strip, Villa Amaya feels like a private tropical courtyard in the middle of Seminyak. Close the door behind you and a curving blue pool comes into view, framed by a pale stone deck, loungers and palms, with crisp white pavilions and garden bungalows set around a leafy lawn. It is calm and secluded, yet Double Six Beach is only around 500 metres away on foot.
Life centres on the open-sided living pavilion beside the pool, where a long timber dining table seats everyone for breakfast and a kitchen with a stool-lined counter keeps drinks and snacks close to the water. For hotter afternoons there is an air-conditioned indoor lounge with deep sofas and a television, a rare find in Bali, while upstairs a covered timber deck makes a peaceful spot for morning yoga or stretching above the garden. Table tennis, board games and video games keep younger guests busy.
The seven bedrooms are spread between the main house, two garden bungalows and an upstairs room, so everyone has a little independence. Each has air-conditioning and its own bathroom, several of them half open to the sky behind high walls and greenery. A team of seven, led by a villa manager, takes care of daily housekeeping, security and the pool, and a chef can be arranged, making this an easy choice for multi-generational families and groups of couples.
