Villa Andaman View lives up to its name. Set high on a hillside above Rawai, in Phuket’s far south, this three-storey contemporary home looks out over green valleys to the Andaman Sea and the islands scattered off the southern coast. The view is the first thing you notice and the last thing you see at night, as the lights of the bay come on below. With five large bedrooms, each with its own bathroom, it suits a group of friends or a couple of families who want space, comfort and a real sense of being above it all.

The ten-metre infinity pool runs along the edge of the terrace, its deep blue tiles seeming to melt into the sea beyond, with loungers lined up for long afternoons in the sun. A covered terrace with timber chairs looks over the treetops, and the outdoor dining table sits right beside the view, so breakfast comes with a panorama. Inside, a wide living room opens through tall glass doors onto the pool deck, with deep leather sofas and the sea framed between its pillars.

There is plenty to do without leaving home. A games level has a billiard table, table tennis and foosball, there is a media room for film nights, and a gym with cardio machines looks out to the hills. The sleek white kitchen has an island and room for a cook to work. Four of the five bedrooms have balconies with views, two bathrooms have jetted tubs, and the fifth bedroom, with two single beds, is ideal for children. Housekeeping is included, and the housekeeper can cook Thai dishes and barbecues with groceries charged at cost.
