Awan Tujuh — “seventh cloud” — is well named. From its stone-clad perch in the hills above Chaweng, the villa looks clean over the treetops to a wide sweep of coastline, and at the end of each day it stages some of the best sunsets on Samui: sky and infinity pool burning the same shade of amber while the island’s lights come on below. The three king bedrooms are generous and quiet, each with its own en-suite, sheer and blackout curtains and a television of its own; the master adds a walk-in wardrobe and a bathroom with a freestanding tub and twin basins, while the third bedroom holds two king beds, making it a flexible base for children, friends or extended family. Outside, a stone-walled open-air shower brings the hillside into the morning routine.
