Villa Bodhi
Why We Recommend Villa Bodhi
From the edge of Villa Bodhi’s infinity pool the land drops away into a deep green valley of palms, the water seeming to pour straight into the treetops. Set in quiet countryside a short drive above central Ubud, this five-bedroom villa is laid out as a cluster of traditional timber cottages and open pavilions in a lovingly kept garden of lawns, stone paths and water gardens alive with fish and frogs.
Days revolve around the long pool, with loungers and parasols along its stone deck and a carved thatched bale on the lawn for shade. The main pavilion is open on every side, with high carved timber roofs, deep daybeds and lounges, and a long dining table that looks out over the garden, while the kitchen is fully equipped for a resident chef. It is a natural setting for yoga mornings, unhurried breakfasts and long dinners under the eaves.
Each bedroom sits in its own named cottage, furnished with carved antiques, four-poster beds in white netting and floor-to-ceiling glass that opens to the jungle; the bathrooms are full of character, with sunken or stone tubs under skylights and garden views. Breakfast is included, a villa manager and team look after the house and garden, and return airport transfers are part of the stay. Ubud’s cafés, the Monkey Forest and the Tegallalang rice terraces are all an easy drive away.
