Villa Claire

Villa Claire is a crisp, all-white modern villa on the hills above Bophut, set high enough that the whole of the north coast opens out in front of it: green slopes rolling down to the bay, and the outline of distant islands on the horizon. Clean lines, glass walls and bursts of colourful contemporary art give it a fresh, airy feel, and its three bedrooms make it an easy, relaxed base for a family or a small group of friends.

The infinity pool is the star. Its glassy surface seems to pour straight into the view, and on a calm day the sky and clouds reflect across the water. A sunny terrace wraps around it, with a gazebo and a tended garden, and a barbecue is on hand for dinners outside as the light fades. Every bedroom opens directly onto the pool, so the morning swim is only a few steps from bed.

Inside, sliding glass doors lead into a bright open-plan living room with a deep blue sofa and a large TV, a dining table for six and a sleek white kitchen with an induction hob, oven, coffee maker and full-size fridge. The three air-conditioned bedrooms are set apart from one another for privacy: a double, a queen and a twin room that suits children, each with its own bathroom, one with a freestanding bathtub. Bophut Beach is about five minutes’ drive away, and Fisherman’s Village and Chaweng are both close by.
