Villa de Sunset

Villa De Sunset sits right on the beach at Nathon, on the west coast of Koh Samui, and as the name promises, it is built around the evening sky. Low white pavilions with steep pitched roofs open through huge sliding doors onto a lawn, a line of palms and the sea beyond, with islands on the horizon and the sun dropping straight into the gulf. The style is fresh and coastal, all pale stone, soft blues and natural timber.

The pool runs along the front of the villa, its edge facing the water, with sunbeds, a shaded pavilion and an outdoor billiard table on the deck. A covered terrace with a long timber table is the place for sunset dinners, and a few steps across the lawn take you onto the sand, where kayaks wait for a paddle along the shore. Inside, two bright living rooms with deep sofas and a large smart TV flow out to the terrace, there is an indoor dining table by the glass, and a sleek white kitchen with an island and built-in oven. A small gym keeps routines on track.

Six bedrooms include four king rooms, several with four-poster canopy beds and sea-facing terraces, plus two rooms designed for children: one with wooden bunk beds and a loft room with a half-round bed. Every bedroom has its own bathroom, which makes it a wonderful choice for families. Breakfast is included, a villa manager and daily housekeeping look after the house, and a chef, massage, babysitting, a driver or a boat can all be arranged.
