Villa Hin

Villa Hin is built around the island itself. Huge granite boulders and old trees rise straight out of the grounds, and the architecture wraps around them, so stone walls, timber decks and sheets of glass meet the natural rock at every turn. Set just above the coast near Choeng Mon on Koh Samui’s north-east shore, it looks out over the bay through tropical planting, pebble-lined water features and flowering gardens, and it feels both dramatic and deeply private.

A fourteen-metre infinity pool sits at the centre, framed on three sides by warm timber decking and loungers, with the boulders on one side and the sea on the other. Just off the pool, the open living room is bright and easy, with an L-shaped sofa heaped with colourful cushions, ceiling fans and bold artwork. An eight-seat dining table looks onto the water through vast glass doors, the kitchen is modern and well equipped, and a shaded terrace lounge faces the coastline. When the sun gets too much, there is a dedicated media room with a big screen for film nights.

All five bedrooms have king beds, air conditioning and their own bathrooms, with walk-in showers, bathrobes and, in several rooms, freestanding tubs. Some face the sea and others open onto the gardens, and a number have their own balcony or porch with loungers. A team of four, including a personal guest assistant and housekeeping, looks after the villa alongside 24-hour security, a chef can be arranged, and return airport transfers are included. Choeng Mon Beach and its seaside restaurants are close by.
