Villa Jewel

A yoga bale above the river is the first place to head each morning at Villa Jewel, where the garden runs down to the water and a wall of rainforest rises on the far bank. The villa sits in Cepaka, a traditional Balinese village in Tabanan, and wakes to birdsong rather than traffic, with daily village life carrying on around it much as it always has.

The layout is generous and easy to share. An infinity pool stretches through the lawn beneath frangipani trees, and a separate plunge pool connects directly to the master suite. Under soaring thatched roofs, an open dining pavilion and a large living pavilion look over the garden, while a second, cosier living room has a home cinema screen and there is a games room with a pool table. Whitewashed walls, timber, rattan and mosquito-netted four-poster beds keep the feel light, natural and calm.

Despite the seclusion, Canggu’s beaches and restaurants are within driving distance and Ubud is around an hour away, which makes Villa Jewel a peaceful base for families, friends or a wellness retreat. The villa team can arrange in-villa massages, a yoga teacher at the bale, healthy menus from the chef and drivers for temple visits and rice-terrace walks.
