Villa June
Why We Recommend Villa June
Villa June is at its best in the last hour of daylight. The pool sits in front of a low pavilion with a deep overhanging roof, and as the sun drops the whole thing turns amber — warm light spilling out from under the eaves across the water, palms going black against the sky. It is the kind of villa where nobody suggests going out for dinner.
The living pavilion runs the depth of the plot under a dark timber ceiling, opening completely to the pool along one side. There is a long low sofa, a dining table, and a kitchen behind it in pale stone with copper pendants and a bar counter. Light comes in from both ends, so even at midday the space stays soft rather than glaring.
Three bedrooms open off the garden, each with woven headboards, timber joinery and its own bathroom finished in microcement with twin stone basins. The one everyone remembers is the freestanding tub set in its own planted nook, screened by palms and open to the sky — the sort of detail that turns a good villa into one people book again. Central Ubud, its cafés and wellness studios are a short drive.
