Villa Kayu Merah
Why We Recommend Villa Kayu Merah
Hidden among frangipani, bamboo and old shade trees in a quiet village near Bingin, Villa Kayu Merah is a peaceful three-bedroom retreat that feels miles from anywhere, yet sits within easy reach of Uluwatu’s most famous beaches. Thatched alang-alang roofs, cool marble floors and warm teak give it a classic Balinese character, and the whole villa is wrapped in nearly seven hundred square metres of leafy garden.
At its heart is a curved, nine-metre pool set into the lawn, with loungers and a round daybed on the terrace beside it. The main pavilion is open on several sides, so the lounge, long dining table and generous teak kitchen all look out over the water and the greenery beyond. It is an easy, sociable space for slow breakfasts, afternoon dips between beach trips and relaxed evenings, with a chef available to cook on request.
Privacy is built into the layout: one bedroom sits in the main pavilion, while the other two are standalone garden bungalows sharing a shaded terrace. Each has its own ensuite bathroom, several with stone or freestanding tubs and open-air showers among the plants. Bingin and Padang Padang beaches are close by for surf and swimming, and Uluwatu Temple is within easy reach for sunset over the cliffs.
