Villa La Thalé perches on the cliffs of Kamala’s Millionaire Mile, a contemporary home with traditional Thai touches that looks straight out over the Andaman Sea. Warm timber ceilings, pale stone and walls of glass keep the ocean in view from almost every room, while the jungle-covered headland around it keeps the house private and calm. Kamala Beach is a short drive down the hill, and quiet coves along the rocky coastline are close by for lazy days by the water.

Outside, an infinity-edge pool runs along the front of the terrace and seems to dissolve into the horizon. Loungers and blue parasols sit beneath frangipani trees, a sea-view jacuzzi waits on the deck, and a shaded alfresco dining pavilion faces west for long dinners as the sun drops into the sea. Inside, the open-plan living and dining room has high timber ceilings, a striking art collection and a long dining table, beside a sleek, well-equipped kitchen.

There is plenty to keep everyone busy without leaving home: an air-conditioned media room with a home cinema, a private gym with views into the trees and Wi-Fi throughout. All five bedrooms have king beds, televisions and en-suite bathrooms, and some bathrooms have deep tubs set against the view. Airport transfers are included both ways.
