Villa Luna Weligama
Why We Recommend Villa Luna Weligama
Villa Luna Weligama is a private beachfront estate on Weligama Bay, on Sri Lanka’s south coast, set in around one and a half acres of lawns and tall coconut palms with direct access to the sand. The property is made up of a main house, a glass-walled teak pavilion and a second house, so families and groups can spread out and still come together for meals. With five bedrooms for up to ten guests, it suits multi-generational families and friends looking for space, calm and Weligama’s gentle beginner surf right on the doorstep.
At the centre of the garden is an eighteen-metre pool with a white stone sundeck, lined with loungers under black parasols. The wide lawn gives children room to play, a hammock hangs between the palms, and there is a gazebo for quiet shade. An enclosed, air-conditioned glass cabana overlooks the sea, and in the evenings torches and garden lights glow along the paths down towards the beach.
The main house holds three spacious master bedrooms with king beds and en-suite bathrooms, each with sliding glass doors onto a private terrace, as well as a family room for film nights, a work desk and the fully equipped kitchen. The teak pavilion is the heart of the villa, an airy dining and lounging space with modern art and plush sofas. Two one-bedroom suites in the second house each have a bathroom, living space and terrace. A team of nine staff looks after the estate, with daily housekeeping, 24-hour security and breakfast included, and lunch and dinner cooked by the chef from a menu.
