Villa Kaimu

Villa Kaimu sits directly on the beach at Midigama, on the stretch of south coast just west of Weligama, where palm-lined sand meets rocky reef and some of Sri Lanka’s best-known surf breaks. It is a sleek, contemporary two-storey home in cool, muted tones, part of a small row of six beachfront villas, with walls of glass that frame the Indian Ocean from almost every room. Four king suites make it ideal for families or friends who want a stylish, design-led base by the sea.

The terrace opens straight onto the sand, with a private infinity pool running along the front of the house and thatched shade beside it. Glass doors fold back from the living and dining rooms so the terrace, pool and beach become one long outdoor space, and there is a sheltered spot for meals outdoors with the sound of the surf close by. A courtyard entrance with a stone-paved path leads in from behind the villa’s own walls.

Inside, an open-plan living room flows into a dining area with ocean views and a fully equipped kitchen, all finished in polished concrete, dark timber and soft textured walls. The four bedrooms each have a king-size bed, air conditioning and an en-suite bathroom, and some have four-poster frames and their own sitting areas. The villa also has an in-villa sauna, and a dedicated team provides daily housekeeping, breakfast and a chef for other meals.
