Sai Tai
Why We Recommend Sai Tai
Sai Tai is one of those rare places where the arrival alone signals something special. A grand entrance of cascading waterfalls and stepping stones winds through dense tropical gardens before the estate reveals itself — an 18-metre infinity pool reaching towards the sand, the Gulf of Thailand beyond, and the Five Islands framing what will become your nightly sunset. This is Thong Krut Beach in Taling Ngam, Koh Samui’s quieter south-western coast: a world away from the bustle of Chaweng and Lamai, yet only ten minutes from Lamai’s restaurants and shops.
The layout is what truly lifts Sai Tai. Two of its five bedrooms sit in standalone beachfront pavilions — private suites just metres from the shore, each with a marble en-suite and sliding doors opening straight onto the sand, a seclusion genuinely hard to find even among Samui’s finest, and perfect for a honeymooning couple within a larger booking. The remaining three occupy the main villa, generously sized with king or queen beds, freestanding tubs and garden views, two of them interconnecting for families with children.
A 250-square-metre open-plan living and dining area rises under soaring ceilings and hardwood floors, a Bose system and flat-screen for quiet nights in, though most guests gravitate to the alfresco terrace and poolside daybeds. The Western kitchen is there for self-catering, but with a private chef cooking complimentary breakfast and lunch each day, few bother. Everything else comes folded in too: a multilingual guest manager, daily housekeeping, 24-hour security, airport transfers, sea kayaks, paddleboards, bicycles and a steam room. Thong Krut Pier is a stroll away for long-tail trips to Koh Madsum — Pig Island — and the snorkelling reefs of Koh Tan, while the golden Laem Sor Pagoda sits ten minutes south.
