Villa Seawadee is perched high in the hills above Chaweng Noi, a striking modern villa of white walls, glass and open decks with a view that takes in the whole sweep of the Gulf, the coastline and the islands beyond. Mornings are bright and blue, and evenings bring the kind of sunsets that stop conversation. Despite the sense of seclusion, the quiet coves of Chaweng Noi, Coral Cove and Silver Beach are a short drive away, with Chaweng and Lamai close by for dinner out.

Water is everywhere here. The main infinity pool curves around the deck with in-pool loungers and an edge that seems to run into the sea, a second, smaller pool sits nearby with a hammock stretched over the water, and a large jacuzzi is set into a sunken lounge on the upper deck, perfect for a warm soak as the lights come on below. Inside, floor-to-ceiling glass wraps the all-white living room, the twelve-seat dining table faces the view, and the sleek kitchen is fully equipped. A table-tennis room adds a little friendly competition.

Six bedrooms are spread across the villa, most with sea views, sofas or lounging corners and private balconies, and the bathrooms come with bathtubs, double sinks and rain showers. The villa can also be booked with anywhere from two to six bedrooms, so it works as well for a couple of families as it does for a big group. Breakfast and a return airport transfer are included, housekeeping is daily, and the attentive team can arrange a private chef, massages, tours and a car or scooter.
