Villa Sila

Villa Sila is a grand seven-bedroom home on Mae Nam Beach, on the quiet north coast of Koh Samui, in a small private estate of beachfront villas. Thai-style pavilions with steep, layered roofs sit around a lush lawn and pool, and a path between the palms leads straight down to the sand. In the evening, lanterns glow on the terrace and the light fades over the bay towards Koh Phangan.

The fifteen-metre pool, filled with mineralised water, sits in front of the main house, with loungers on the lawn and more by the beach. A large sala by the pool holds an alfresco dining table for fourteen and a barbecue, while a smaller, quieter sala upstairs is a peaceful spot for yoga or a morning stretch. Inside, modern design meets traditional Thai detail: a long living room with deep sofas, an indoor dining table for fourteen, a fully equipped western kitchen and a separate Thai kitchen. There is also a gym and a wood-panelled sauna on site.

Seven bedrooms sleep up to fourteen, five with king beds and two with twin singles, each with its own bathroom, marble floors and carved gold feature walls. Children get their own space too: a kids’ room with three bunk beds, a play corner and a TV. Breakfast is included, a team of housekeepers, butlers, security and a nightly beach watchman look after the villa, and airport transfers are part of the stay. Villa Sila can also be booked with five or six bedrooms, or together with its neighbour for a larger group.
