Villa Suan Kuchamudee
Why We Recommend Villa Suan Kuchamudee
Villa Suan Kuchamudee occupies a hillside in Chaweng Noi, the quieter southern stretch of Koh Samui’s most popular coastline. Designed by Sicart & Smith Architects and completed in 2015, it spans 1,000 square metres across multiple levels following the natural contour of the hill, linked by staircases and framed by floor-to-ceiling glass, so it feels integrated into the landscape rather than imposed on it — unobstructed Gulf of Thailand views from virtually every room. For groups of up to twenty-two, the tiered layout creates separation without isolation: couples and families retreat to their own quarters while communal spaces draw everyone together for meals and evenings by the pool.
The eleven bedrooms are each en-suite, their configurations spanning a real range of group needs — kings through bedrooms one to eight, a king with two bunks in nine for families, a double in ten, and two bunks in eleven — so multi-generational groups are well served without anyone feeling short-changed. Bathrooms incorporate large natural stones that tie the interiors to the tropics outside, and every bedroom opens onto its own private terrace, so even in a full house of twenty-two there is always somewhere quiet for a morning coffee.
The 17-by-5-metre infinity pool is the centrepiece, its edge merging with sea and sky, sun loungers and shaded seating set throughout the grounds. A resident team handles daily housekeeping, twice-weekly linen and a complimentary breakfast each morning — genuinely useful when coordinating twenty-two people at a restaurant would be its own exercise in logistics — with a multilingual manager arranging excursions, dining and transport, a private chef for lunch, dinner bookable on top, and airport transfers both ways. Chaweng Noi sits between Chaweng and Lamai, about two kilometres from the sand and three from town, peaceful on its hillside yet minutes from restaurants, Central Samui and the nightlife strip, with Bangkok Hospital Samui ten minutes off.
