Villa Talaefun

Villa Talaefun stands on the cliff top of the Kamala headland, on the stretch of coast known as Millionaire’s Mile, with nothing in front of it but open sea. The view sweeps across a hundred and eighty degrees of the Andaman, from the forested headland to the far horizon, and the whole villa is arranged to make the most of it. Traditional Thai pavilions with steep timber roofs sit around a wide, level lawn, shaded by coconut palms and set with stepping stones, Thai sculpture and a small garden pond.

The twenty-metre infinity pool runs right along the cliff edge, tiled in vivid blue, so swimmers look straight out to sea with the water seeming to drop away into the ocean. Its white-painted timber deck is lined with loungers and umbrellas, and a gazebo at one end of the garden makes a perfect lookout, especially as the sun sinks into the sea each evening. Breakfast on the clifftop terrace is hard to beat, and there is an open-air dining pavilion as well as an indoor dining room with a long teak table, a classic Thai-style kitchen with a central island and a living room that looks through tall sliding doors to the water.

The six bedrooms mix warm timber ceilings, dark wood floors and crisp white linen, with four king rooms and two twin rooms, each with its own bathroom, living space and furnished verandah, and many with sea views. A team of four looks after the villa, with daily housekeeping, round-the-clock security, a gardener and a chef on request, and your arrival airport transfer is included. Kamala’s beach, village and restaurants are only a short drive down the hill.
